United Kingdom Hydrographics Office, Taunton
Contract Value: £3.2 million
Main Contractor: BAM Construction
Client: Ministry of Defence
F P Hurley were awarded the mechanical package to deliver the new HQ for UKHO on its existing site in Taunton. The UKHO produces global hydrographic and geospatial data for the Ministry of Defence and other mariner organisations. It has been in Taunton since 1941.
The project created a brand new office development offering a modern and collaborative working environment. The new facility took 25 months to build and boasts state-of-the-art technology that will secure its future as a leading global organisation.
The development was built on the existing site, and consists of two three-storey buildings connected by a central glazed atrium. The 850-workforce remained operational within the existing offices, and access was maintained throughout the project. With the new HQ now complete, the existing offices will be demolished, and the land redeveloped.
