Ilfracombe Academy
Contract Value: £1.9 Million
Main Contractor: BAM Construction
Client: North Devon Council
Ilfracombe Academy was an Education Funded Agency (ETA) funded project comprising of a new Sports Hall building, a new five-storey sixth-form block and the refurbishment of the existing Art and Dining block.
F P Hurley’s subcontract scope of works covered the in-house design of the electrical works, as well as the in-house design and installation of the mechanical works, including the coordination of both mechanical and electrical installation. The project comprised of five phases, from the initial enabling works to the final demolition works.
The adjacent existing school buildings and facilities were kept fully operational during the contract works, so we planned working practices and restrictions to ensure the complete safety and segregation from the pupils and staff.
The project builds on F P Hurley’s strong presence in the education sector of South West England, in particular the recent projects of Winterbourne International Academy in South Gloucestershire and the Chippenham Campus of Wiltshire College.
