F P Hurley delivered the mechanical services for this BREEAM Outstanding building, which is at the forefront of research into renewable and alternative energy production. The building accommodates a showcase lecture theatre, quality office space and communal areas, as well as several scientific testing and experimental laboratories. An impressive feature of the project is the Marine Lab, which houses a 30m-long wave flume tank that allows the University to model estuarine tidal flows and silt deposition.
