F P Hurley Commence District Heating Scheme at UWE, Bristol
We’re delighted to announce we’ve been appointed by the University of the West of England as Principal Contractor for the Low Carbon District Heat Network Extension scheme. The works consist of almost 1.5 kilometres of buried district heating distribution pipework. F P Hurley will be managing all aspects of the project including the required excavations and reinstatements around the campus.
District Heating Scheme
In addition to the heat network installation, our team will be responsible for the decarbonisation of 12 plantrooms and several student accommodation buildings, with almost 50 gas boilers being removed as part of our works. We will be delivering the mechanical, electrical and thermal insulation packages in-house whilst working with our supply chain delivering the associated Building Management and Energy Monitoring packages.
We will be working on a live university campus with all the work being completed with minimal disruption whilst being occupied by students. The works are due to complete by the end of the year, and we are delighted to be able to work closely with one of our long-standing clients and assist UWE in becoming carbon neutral as an organisation, with net-zero emissions of greenhouse gases by 2030.
