Ysgol Llyn Y Forwyn, Ferndale

F P Hurley is proud to have partnered with Wynne Construction on the new Ysgol Llyn Y Forwyn in Ferndale, Rhondda Cynon Taf. We successfully completed the full M&E package for this project, which was handed over in November 2024. This state-of-the-art facility, built on the site of the former Chubb Fire and Security Factory, serves 270 Welsh medium students and includes a dedicated Cylch Meithrin playgroup for children aged 2-5, aimed at promoting their Welsh language development. The development also boasts a multi-use games area, a grass sports pitch, and various external play spaces.

Our scope of works prioritised sustainability and reducing carbon emissions, in line with the Welsh Government’s Net Zero by 2050 target. These included:

• Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs)
• Underfloor heating
• Photovoltaic panels for electricity generation
• EV charging stations, and a fully monitored DALI lighting system.

These features will enhance energy efficiency and support sustainable education for future generations.
