Main Contractor: Willmott Dixon
Contract Value: £2.4 million
Client: Dyfed Powys Police
F P Hurley delivered the mechanical services for Dyfed Powys Police’s brand new police station with an 18-cell custody suite unit. The modern and sustainable building provides excellent facilities to meet the needs of modern law enforcement and detainee wellbeing. The 2 storey facility will provide 18 custody suites, office space, interview rooms and virtual courts and will house around 180 staff. The site is close to the the Wales Air Ambulance base, and close communication and full coordination was needed with them to ensure that any craneage on site didn’t impact on their service provision. The new custody suites will replace older facilities in Llanelli and Ammanford.
F P Hurley were appointed to carry out the mechanical services design development from Stage 4 which involved value engineering to achieve the cost budget. Our team started on site in June 2022 and completed March 2023. Whilst working on site we had an exemplary H&S record with no accidents or incidents. The project provided opportunities for valuable learning opportunities for 2 on-site apprentices and 1 design engineer trainee throughout the works totaling over 3000 apprentice hours.
