F P Hurley Secures Passivhaus Development SAP3

F P Hurley has secured the contract with Vinci Construction for the University of the West of England’s Student Accommodation 3 Project, known as SAP3, in Bristol. The building, which will be located on the Frenchay Campus, will accommodate 900 bed spaces laid out across three buildings in four, six and eight bed clusters. The three buildings will be built to Passivhaus standards, providing a high level of user comfort whilst using very little energy for heating and cooling. The standout design eliminates the use of fossil fuels by utilising Mitsubishi Air Source Heat Pumps, Heat Recovery Air Handling Unit and Photovoltaics.

F P Hurley’s work with the University of West of England follows the successful handing over of several flagship buildings, including the Engineering Building, the Future Space Enterprise Zone, Students Union and the CHP installation including site wide district heating. F P Hurley also have a successful history of delivering student accommodation projects across the UK in cities which include Bristol, Reading, Norwich, Portsmouth, Cardiff and Swansea.
