F P Hurley Helping to Transform St Joseph’s Hospital
F P Hurley engineers are playing a key role in the upgrade and refurbishment of St Joseph’s Hospital in Newport, an independent hospital that is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.
The hospital has recently benefitted from significant investment, which has allowed for a phased programme of extension, upgrade and refurbishment, and is set to receive a further £4.2 million investment drive to continue developing the most efficient healthcare systems, facilities and technologies.
Earlier this year, F P Hurley were appointed to deliver the mechanical services for a £3 million Day Surgery Unit, which involved the complete refurbishment of the on-site hospice into a day theatre suite and recovery area.
Following on from this F P Hurley were awarded several contracts to carry our extensive works across the site, including the refurbishment of the HSDU into a ‘Surgi-cube’, modifications to the ventilation system for theatres 1, 2 and recovery unit, refurbishment of the pathology lab to create a brand new pharmacy unit and refurbishment to the anaesthetic rooms. Our engineers are also currently on site carrying out a refurbishment of the hospital’s water and heating system, in order to improve energy efficiency across the site.
Under the latest investment, F P Hurley will be refurbishing patient bedrooms to achieve a five star standard, helping the hospital to meet increased demand from private patients and offering the very best patient centred care.
