Description :

F P Hurley were contracted to provide the mechanical services for three new build primary schools in Cardiff- Hamadryad in Butetown (£700,000), Glan Morfa in Splott (£625,000) and Howardian School in Penylan (£700,000).

Each school consists of 2 storeys and will accommodate up to 500 pupils and 48 full time nursery places. The schools will provide additional welsh medium places and aim to widen parental choice in Cardiff.

The three schools are very similar in construction, with the exception of Hamadryad school having an additional changing block on the side elevation to make use of the sports facilities at Hamadryad Park. Each school will provide a comfortable and modern learning environment, with SENCO and quiet rooms within each nursery department. The schools are also designed with community use in mind, providing multi use games areas and function rooms available for hire.

The schools will incorporate high standards of energy efficiency and sustainability, and each school is expected to achieve BREEAM Excellent and an EPC rating of A.

HVAC Installation(s) :

Natural gas distribution, low temperature hot water heating, natural ventilation systems, mechanical supply and extract ventilation systems, comfort cooling, rainwater harvesting system, control system, cold water storage and distribution, domestic hot water services, foul water drainage (above ground).
